MLO Chapter Volunteers to Feed the Homeless

On the Friday after Thanksgiving on November 24, 2017, Mu Lambda Omega Chapter and ASCEND students enthusiastically volunteered with Pastor Paul Hill and Grace United Methodist Church ministries to feed 382 hungry and homeless in the Skid Row area of downtown Los Angeles. There were a total of 50 volunteers who took time to cook and assemble the home cooked hot meals that included fried chicken, rice and gravy, string beans, dinner rolls, dessert and bottled water. Volunteers then transported the meals to the Skid Row area and proceeded to distribute them, up close and personal, to those in need. The need was so great that all 382 meals were distributed in less than 30 minutes.
The hearts of those that volunteered were filled with gratitude, hope, and empathy. This experience nurtured the bodies and spirits of those in need and as well as nurtured the spirits of those who volunteered their time and talents.
Tea Roses to Soror Ruby Cannon, Chairman of the Family Strengthening Committee for coordinating such a worthwhile and rewarding experience as we move into this holiday season of giving.
